Anaphylactic Reaction

I am including a section on anaphylactic reaction, not because it is very common (it is quite rare) but because I have mentioned it in various chapters. Anaphylaxis is a very serious allergy to something (e.g. nuts) that results in serious breathing problems, that come on very suddenly. It is a life threatening situation.

Symptoms of Anaphylaxis

Anaphylaxis may start with itching, flushing, a red swollen rash, often around the face, mouth and tongue. Noisy breathing comes on very suddenly.

Emergency

If you think that your child is having an anaphylactic reaction, call an ambulance.
